1. Download
Download niftytelnet-ssh.hqx and save it to your Desktop or some other folder. If the program does not unpack automatically after the download is complete, you may need to install StuffIt Expander.
When the program is unpacked, you should see a folder called niftytelnet-1.1-ssh-r3 Folder (Figure 1). Double-click the icon labeled NiftyTelnet 1.1 SSH r3 to launch the program.

2. Configure
After launching the program, the New Connection window will appear. Click Edit or press Command-E to enter the Telnet Shortcut preferences dialog (Figure 2). In the Telnet Shortcut dialog, type a name in the Shortcut Name field, and enter the host name (such as login.geo.mtu.edu or login.rsi.mtu.edu) in the Host Name field. Also, be sure to select SSH-3DES from the Protocol list. Click OK to save these preferences and continue connecting.

3. Connect
The first time you connect to a server with NiftyTelnet SSH, you will see a Host Identification Alert dialog (Figure 3). This is normal behavior. Selecting Accept & Save will allow the program to check the server's host key in the future against a saved copy for added security.

After entering your username and password in the SSH Login dialog and clicking Login, you'll be connected.
