To ensure compatibility with our printing equipment, you'll need to use one of the following programs to create your poster.
Your poster must be one of the format/size combinations listed below. You
can download a blank template file by clicking on a format.
Your poster will be printed on high-gloss photo paper. The resolution of
the printer is 600 dpi. For best results, use images that are 200 dpi or
higher.
When your poster is complete, print a letter-size (8.5" x 11.0") color copy
of your poster, and verify that all formatting and layout is as you intend.
After you have printed a proof of your poster, submit a printing request by
sending a message to
icemaint@mtu.edu.
Do not send email attachments to this address; all attachments are dropped
before entering the request system. Please include the format from the list above, number of copies, and any special
instructions. A suggested format is below.
After you send your request to
icemaint@mtu.edu, you will receive an
automatic reply, confirming that your request has been entered into the
tracking system. Please print a copy of your request, attach to it your
printed proof, and place it in the mailbox marked Graduate Expo Posters in
the GMES main office (Dow 630, on the north side of the building).
Shortly after you receive the automatic reply to your initial request,
you'll receive instructions for uploading your poster file(s) to our server.
This is a simple process that can be done from any web browser.
FrameMaker users: If you have any referenced images in your poster,
please make sure you upload those files as well. To find out which image
files are referenced, select Special | List
Of | References... | Yes. Include Imported Graphics references, and click Set. A new document will open, listing all of the
referenced files you'll need to upload.
Your printed poster will be available 3-5 business days after you complete
the submission instructions above. When your poster is ready, you'll receive
a message with pick-up instructions. Be careful to keep your poster dry; the
ink is water-soluble, and can smear when wet.
Your poster will be printed with at least 1" margins on all sides; for
example, if your poster is 36" x 48", the final print will be at least 38" x
50". If you require larger margins (i.e. more white space), you must include
them in your poster file.
We are unable to help you trim or mount your poster. We recommend a sharp
utility knife and steel or aluminum straightedge for trimming the edges of
your poster.
